1. Schedule Logic and Validation rules 

There are a number of date validation rules applied to avoid any schedule tasks and activities being created with invalid dates.   The rules vary slightly depending if the schedule is in Phase 3 Kick-off or Phase 4 Execution, below is an overview of the rules that apply to setting up project schedules:

 

Phase 3 Kick-off

  • Pipeline schedule creation is optional and managed via Company Settings ‘Project Lifecycle, but if set the following rules apply when setting up the schedule.
    • Start date – no restrictions
    • Finish date – one day before Phase 4 Execution Start Date
  • Execution Schedule
    • Start date – no restrictions (if no Pipeline Schedule date is set) OR
    • Start  date – one day after Pipeline Schedule end date

 

Phase 4 Execution 

  • Pipeline schedule – does not apply as READ ONLY 
  • Execution Schedule
  • Start date – can no longer be changed
  • Baseline Finish Date – can only be changed via Change Control Process
  • Forecast Finish Date – changed based on user’s access rights.
